We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Interior Design/Architecture Intern to join our Architecture and Fabrication studio for the summer of 2023. As a Summer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our design and fabrication team members in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

 

As an intern at Hufft, you will be exposed to projects at multiple scales across building types. In addition to being involved in exciting active and ongoing projects, interns will collaborate with each other, and other team members on a unique summer-long project to design and build a project of their choosing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

• Work closely with a team of designers to assist in preparing for presentations and construction documentation
• Participate in design team meetings and presentations, offering fresh perspectives and creative ideas
• Work closely with material and furniture representatives to order and procure samples and pricing for interior design and furniture packages
• Work in the materials library to maintain, organize, and assemble samples
• Utilize hand renderings and drawing techniques to communicate design concepts
• Visit job sites for observation and generating field reports
• Assist in material research, focusing on innovative and sustainable products

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

• A positive attitude with a curiosity and passion for design
• Proficiency in Revit, InDesign, and SketchUp
• Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam
• Strong conceptual, graphic, and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with other members of the Hufft team and with product representatives and manufacturers
• Basic understanding of furniture, interior finishes, and ordering
• The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to incorporate fabrication in the design process and thrive in our collaborative, cross-disciplinary practice
• Previous internship in a design firm is desired, but not required

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

 

• Successful completion of 3rd year of an interior design or architecture program by May of 2023, with desire to complete the program following the internship
• A strong portfolio demonstrating abilities in conceptual thinking with an emphasis on creative design and exploration
